The New Maridean.com goes live...
I worked on the web site over the weekend. It was a long difficult task. The website is now operational and the domain name "maridean.com" has been successfully redirected. The website was built entirely from free google applications. If anyone wants to know how I did it please give me a call. We are open to suggestions on marketing the B&B. My current idea is to not market to the end user. I think we need to find the people that are causing people to travel to CR for dental care. So our plan is to get close to dentists in CR and try to develop a reciprocal relationship. We are both offering services to the same people. We should be working together. We have many tools and resources to spread the word about low-cost health care in Costa Rica. The first thing that comes to mind is to get a message on the radio station in Santa Cruz. We have an 800 number that rings in CR and we should be talking with folks that are interested in medical tourism. Some radio advertising would give us an indication of people's interest in medical tourism. Any feedback would be appreciated. |
This is harder than I expected...
I am endeavoring to get all of the pieces for maridean.com into a single google account. Specifically I wanted all of photos in picasaweb albums for use with the b&b website. The idea being that it would be nice to use picasa3 to manage and upload for updating the photos. |
Still fine tuning...
The web site still needs more fine tuning. I created a picasaweb album for the b&b and loaded it up with most of the slide shows. So far the site looks OK to me. I would like to use a differnt flash player. the google one is limited by fast and easy. |

Free insurance for tourists offered by Mexico City
http://www.eturbonews.com/10651/free-insurance-tourists-offered-mexico-city Jul 29, 2009
MEXICO CITY — Mexico City on Tuesday introduced free insurance for tourists in a bid to bring back visitors scared away after the swine flu epidemic broke out in Mexico in April. The Tourist Assistance Card would be the first free cover for tourists in the world, said Mexico City mayor Marcelo Ebrard as he handed out the first cards to a handful of foreign tourists. "It aims to place our city where we want to be," Ebrard said, three months after hotel occupancy sunk to record lows as the city shut down to contain the outbreak. Tourists who show they are staying at one of the city's 460 hotels will have access to medical assistance, not only for A(H1N1) symptoms, but also for accidents or other illnesses, ambulance transport, hospitalization and medicines, Ebrard said. The cover, administered by the Mapfre company, also includes dental care, repatriations, legal assistance after robberies, lost luggage and delayed or canceled flights. The sprawling Mexican capital hosts some three million international and four million national tourists each year. Hotel occupancy sunk as low as 10 percent in April and May and is currently at 59 percent, according to industry groups. Despite a peak in southeast regions, officials say A(H1N1) is now under control in Mexico, which has reported 138 deaths and some 14,800 cases.
